Faculty of Islamic Business Administration
Practicing Muslims in contemporary society have noticed a shortage in practical Islamic economic studies and related business and management studies. To fill this void and as part of its mission to encourage the foundation of solid institutions in the Islamic community, the Waqf of the Islamic Center for Education decided to found an “Islamic Faculty for Business Administration” as one of the faculties at Al Imam Al Ouzai University in Beirut, the city where Imam Al Ouzai lived and his following grew.
This faculty teaches the science of business administration and other related sciences from an Islamic perspective. It differs in this respect from other universities, which teaches Islamic thought as a supplement to Western economic thought. The Faculty also deals with the current state of the Islamic world – both economically and intellectually – and does not confine itself to the transactions found in the adopted books of jurisprudence but also addresses the jurisprudential status of contemporary economic and managerial transactions.
The foundation of this faculty was approved by Decree No. 3484 issued on October 15, 1986. The Ministry of Education accredited the faculty degrees on June 6, 1991, by Resolution No. 16-24/1991.
