Educational Science Unit

This unit has a dual mission:
1. To train teachers and promote their professional qualifications, not only in teaching religious studies but also in teaching various fields of knowledge, including languages and social issues, as well as in using modern facilities such as computers.
2. To establish curricula for Islamic education for different educational levels from kindergarten through the end of secondary school. Such curricula must include academic courses and activities outside the framework of standard classroom courses in order to promote Islamic values and teachings in the students’ minds.
Based on the belief in the necessity of opening universal faculties to their communities, and the positive active roles they take in these communities, the educational unit hosted an orientation session for teachers in a number of special Islamic elementary schools in Lebanon. The unit later invited Islamic educational institutions from all over Lebanon to attend an educational meeting about teaching Islamic education curricula in Lebanon. The meeting was held at the “Wahat al Salam” in Sidon on the 16th of Jamada awal 1418 A.H. (September 17, 1997). The attendees arrived at a number of recommendations regarding the educational unit. One of these recommendations was to monitor the cognitive, conscientious, and behavioral objectives of each educational stage separately, taking into consideration the complementarity and correlation among stages.
