Mission

The work of the Islamic Center for Education includes:

  1. Conducting theoretical and field research and studies that encourage the progress of Muslims in Lebanon and the Arab world, and in the countries that work with the Center on these matters. Such Islamic research and studies constitute part of the educational and social aspects of the Muslims’ life and focus mainly on determining their educational and social needs so that education can be oriented towards fulfilling those needs.

  2. Coordinating and organizing Islamic education in order to achieve maximum progress for Muslims as efficiently and economically as possible.

  3. Orienting Islamic research and studies toward eliminating the differences between Muslims within a single community, therefore enhancing the unity of the Islamic community.

To achieve these goals, the Center’s administrative board is charged with the following tasks:

  1. Devising an educational plan based on a study of the current Islamic educational and social institutions in Lebanon with the assistance of experts and technicians and based on scientific achievements and technological progress.

  2. Coordinating among Islamic educational institutions to carry out the recommendations set forth in previous studies and support the active institutions – financially, morally and technically – according to the services they render to the Islamic mission.

  3. Developing a study to organize the teaching of Islam in public educational institutions.

  4. Studying the relationship between the Islamic educational movement and the educational and social variables within the community in order to improve the Islamic educational process.

  5. Making use of educational technology in order to improve the process of teaching Islamic studies and spreading Islamic culture.

  6. Developing an educational contact between the home, the school, the mosque, and the club, which constitute the basic social entities that contribute to the formation of the Islamic identity.

  7. Implementing the steps in the educational process necessary to achieve intellectual unity among all Muslims within the melting pot.

  8. Holding conferences and lectures to address Islamic issues, especially current educational concerns.

  9. Studying educational methodologies and programs used to help spread the Islamic ideology, including relevant publications and adopted media, such as books, newspapers, magazines, radio, TV, theater, and cinema, in order to further develop and update them.

  10. Developing religious institutes in Lebanon and planning their activities, as well as expanding them to include sections for girls.

  11. Designing a project to create institutions for Islamic education at different levels, from kindergarten, secondary and technical levels to the university level.
